Victoria Hunt advocates for balanced development and long-term community benefit. Key efforts include:
- Business owners, property owners and Issaquah citizens now have a more consistent and predictable path to building and development thanks to my leadership overhauling the Municipal Land Use Code – Title 18
- Our environment is protected as we increase service for affordable housing options and services such as the Transit Oriented Development and Opportunity Center project
Victoria prioritizes a sustainable, greener future for Issaquah. Significant contributions include:
- I pushed for and finalized the Issaquah Climate Action Plan
- We now have a greener building code and improvements on energy efficiency, including electric car charging stations
- The Green Necklace – a system of trails connecting parks and open spaces – is nearing completion. The Bergsma property acquisition that I championed is part of this larger goal
Victoria is dedicated to addressing public safety and human service needs. Key accomplishments include:
- While council president, I added significant resources to the Police and Human Services departments, and enacted the Police Accountability, Equity and Human Services Action Plan
- I supported the creation of a Homelessness Outreach program to address a growing need
- In partnership with the community and non-profits such as the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank, enacted key steps in the Human Services Strategic Plan to ensure all residents and families have access to basic essentials like food, shelter, and clothing
Victoria is committed to improving local transit options and accessibility. Major efforts involve:
- Street and sidewalk repair and maintenance programs funded
- Safety improvements like the Providence Point Traffic Signal Project
- More sidewalks, especially in older neighborhoods (a work in progress but something I feel very strongly about especially as a mother of young children!) – TR 068 Squak Mountain Multimodal Improvements
- Finish connecting the Green Necklace, a network of trails, parks and open-space across the city
